Cardiff Activities/Places to Visit

Hi
I have a break away to Cardiff, in 2 weeks time, on the outskirts-15 minute drive into the centre of Cardiff, 30 minute drive to Barry Island.
There are 4 of us, all adults, me, my friend & 2 adult daughters-one who is Down Syndrome & one who is special needs
Can anyone suggest any good places to visit or activities in the surrounding area??

Dyffryn House and Gardens
St Fagans National Museum of History is apparently one of Europe's leading open-air museums and Wales's most popular heritage attraction. It’s definitely worth going to.
Cosmeston Lakes Country Park and Medieval Village is a good little trip. Its flat, even paths are easily accessible to everyone and many people visit again and again.
The Royal Mint experience at Pontyclun is excellent. You’ll start off with a 45-minute guided tour of the factory. Once the tour is over, you are welcome to explore the interactive exhibitions. You can strike your own coins as a nice souvenir.

I think the Cardiff Bay Beach will be open on the barrage, food stalls, ride and whatnot. The Aquapark (inflatable obstacle course) is also running off the barrage

Various boat companies run trips around the bay and out into the Bristol Channel

Do you have a car?
The caerphilly mountain ranch is fantastic, but not sure it suit your needs as adults.
The grottoes near chepstow are special too, but can be tricky underfoot. Very beautiful though.

Get a boat around the bay, walk over barrage. Can catch it from Bute park in city. Near castle.

Tredegar house is another good national trust.

Margam park is lovely, near post Talbot.

Do they like farms and petting zoos? Cefn mably is good. As is wild place and Bristol zoo, plus Noahs ark. All in England, but not bad journeys at weekend.

There is an accessible walkway section of coast path from rest bay in porthcawl.

Wye valley, Monmouth and tintern about 30 mins.

Rspb at Newport is accessible.

Fruit picking at Hendrewenol is normally very good... as far as I remember it’s accessible.

St Fagan's museum is amazing and free! Roath Park is great for kids too, huge lake to walk around, formal gardens and a big kids play area. Nice cafe too!

Don't miss St Fagans. Amazing place; get there when it opens and plan to spend the day there. I also loved Castell and / or Cardiff Castle - same architect / patron / style but the most incredible Victorian interiors.
