Axminster to Beer

I’m staying at Beer YHA alone for 3 nights and trying to plan my walks around public transport.

I want to go to the Donkey Sanctuary and to Lyme but my main dilemma is how to get from Axminster station to Beer, I arrive around midday.
I’d like to walk but can anyone recommend a good route or alternative ?
I thought of maybe walking to Lyme and then taking a bus. I will have my pack but can’t check in before 5.

This bus seems to go to Seaton and Beer from Axminster. You can walk from Seaton to Beer, along the coast, I think.

There's a coastal path, it goes up and down a fair amount and I recommend good boots as it's stumbly in places

I am going to take a bus to Musbury and walk from there. Have good boots and map.
