If you have done this drive where did you stay ?
Any recommendations of things to see , do , hotels , eateries please .

I have cycled it rather than driven. One of the best things I have ever done. We stayed in Air Bnbs, there was plenty to choose from. We also missed out John O'Groats and the east coast as it's fairly dull, and instead went down the centre south of Thurso which was much more scenic and remote.

I would recommend all of it - my favourite bit was the west coast around Torridon and also up around the Summer Isles. Stunning.

there is a NC500 website with lots of advice. Air bnb a plenty up there. Just please don't crawl around the single tracks not letting those trying to pass get passed. Drives me nuts and really hard for those who work up there and are losing money stuck behind someone who won't pull over. beautiful drive -enjoy!

Best tip would be take your time and don’t rush it
My favourite time of the year here is may time, nice long day’s and no midges
