London hotels choice.

I'm taking my sister to London for three nights and we're looking at travel lodge type hotels. Nothing fancy required for accommodation at all. I'm just not sure where best to base ourselves in the city as I don't know it well.

We're going to be doing some of the usual touristy things like the V & A, maybe the Tower, out to Harry Potter world as that's her entire reason for living, and will no doubt end up wandering around some of the main shops.

Any suggestions as to good areas to base ourselves? Are we best to stay central?

The Covent Garden Travelodge in Drury Lane might fit the bill. You can get to The Tower and V&A easily from there - about a 10-15 minute walk to the District Line at Embankment for both places. Likewise it's easy to get to Euston for Harry Potter Worlds (I think it's served by Euston?).

Thank you! That sounds perfect.

I agree Covent Garden is a good option and there are lots of nice restaurants nearby. You can also walk to the river from there and along to the Houses of Parliament if you’re feeling energetic.

Download the Citymapper app for travel - it calculates the best route for you using your current location and gives you options based on time/no of changes etc. I often think the bus (not in rush hour) is a good way for visitors to get around for short journeys as you get a sense of how everything fits together, compared to the tube where you pop up and have no idea where you are. Enjoy your trip - sounds lovely.
