London Hotel needed

We need to find a hotel in central London, not too expensive but decent quality,preferably near theatre land. Any recommendations?

There ar e a few Travelodges , one near Covent Garden iirc.

This is a surprisingly nice pub (lots of Waterloo-style frescos painted on the ceilings) with accommodation too, right next to Waterloo station. Had lunch here once and decided it looked an ideal place to stay, I know it doesn't look much from outside though .

apex city hotel is fab

There's a Travel Lodge or Travel Inn in County Hall that is definitely worth a look. There's a footbridge over to Embankment so it's probably 10-15m walk up to theatreland.

I've booked a private double room at the Picadilly Backpackers for me and DH in September! No bathroom or breakfast but it's £61, zone 1 and looks a lot nicer & cleaner than most of the little private hotels and b&bs that central. Will report back natch.
