Anyone in Edinburgh? How cold is it up there at the moment?

Also, any recommendations on things to do with kids age 4 & 5? We are heading up there for a week's holiday on Saturday.

We are getting beautiful weather. Incredible sunsets, mild but pretty windy.

So many good things to do - museum of Scotland, dynamic earth, open top bus tour, Mary Kings Close, zoo. Anything specific you are looking for?

The mornings are pretty cold, between 5-8 degrees but it gets a bit warmer through the day. Probably about 13 degrees
Lots to do!
There's the museum of Scotland. Dinosaurs to see and there's a science type bit that's really interactive. I think there's a sort of play floor in the newer part of the building which has dressing up etc. It's all free too! The museum is right next to greyfriers bobby too!
There's camera obscurer too, I've not been but I've heard it's really worth a visit.
Dynamic earth is good with little ones too.
On the royal mile there's the museum of childhood. It's pretty small but has a good selection of toys and again it's free so worth a little wander.
If it's dry the botanic gardens are good for a run around and the zoo is good too. They do a penguin walk each day so it's worth checking what time this is on. The zoo is out of town a little but really well serviced by busses. I'd avoid it on Sunday as there's a big football match on at Murrayfield and there's loads of traffic diversions in place plus the busses will be very busy.
If you're anywhere near Leith then Britannia is docked at ocean terminal - again served well with busses. It's pretty interesting and good fun for children to explore.
Any questions please ask!
Enjoy your holiday!

Yes the camera obscura is magical if it’s a fine day...silently watching and it’s in a gallery of really interesting optical illusions and effects

The Museum of Childhood has a lovely exhibition on children's books at the moment, well worth a look.

This is all brilliant stuff. We are staying somewhere near the Botanical gardens I think.

Brittania and the museum with dinosaurs is on the agenda but also the camera cbscura now too.
