Near Newquay

Anyone got any recommendations for near Newquay (thinking rental in nice village with some pubs/restaurants/shops) - want to make use of the areas extensive dog friendly beaches but don't want the evening boozing of the town centre!
Maybe Crantock?!

Mawgan Porth has s bit more to offer than Crantock and it has an award winning, dog friendly beach with rock pools and caves to explore. www.mawganporth.info

visit cornwall who used to be the cornwall tourist board have a dog friendly guide so its worth checking on there for which beaches are open to dogs as many have dog bans in place from easter to October. There are some lovely dog friendly beaches in SE Cornwall - Seaton is a great beach and its a bit quieter than the north coast we have found. Assuming you aren't looking for this years school hols?

Perranporth is very dog friendly and they are allowed on the beach all year I believe. It's not all that far Newquay. But as PP said, I think you'd struggle to find anywhere decent for this summer holiday.

Sorry! For next year. Just come back from St Ives which was lovely but not very dog friendly (porthkidney was lovely though). Newquay area seems to be all dog friendly - crantock, mawgan north and watergate bay look to be dog friendly all year round? Perranporth seems to be ok if on a lead which is ok for a visit but not as his main source of freedom!
