Suffolk

We're thinking of spending a week in Suffolk towards the end of August. We don't have any specific destination in mind. Dcs are getting older. Cooked breakfast and wifi more important than ice cream and playgrounds. Any particular recommendations? Should we stay near the seaside or inland? Village or town? Any 'must do's'? All contributions gratefully received!

Try and stay near Southwold so you're well placed for a lot of good activities for teenagers in all directions. Things that might interest your DC in Southwold include a maize maze, high speed boat rides (Coastal Voyager), more relaxed boat cruises, cycle hire, crabbing, footgolf/archery/rifle shooting at High Lodge, a skate park, the Electric Picture Palace cinema www.southwoldcinema.co.uk, a lighthouse which you can climb and the pier. You can also go on guided tours around the Adnams Brewery.
Nearby there's go-karting at Beccles, bowling and roller skating at Lowestoft, Pleasurewood Hills amusement park and kayaks and canoes on the huge lake at Thorpeness.

Thorpeness near Aldeburgh - boating on the Meare. Walking along the beach. Good selection of restaurants and pubs. Snape Maltings - good walks. Orford Ness. Framlingham Castle.
