We’re Brit expats living in the US, come home every summer and very much spend that time with family and friends.

DS has expressed an interest in seeing more of the U.K., our summer plans are set but we’re back again mid November, where could I take my DC to give them a taste of the U.K. considering the weather will be crap by then?

We’re normally based in the SE so they know London and Brighton well, also sussex, Chichester. This summer we’re doing Warwick Castle with the in laws and a bit of the midlands...they’ve also been to the Isle of Man a few times

I would head south and go to Cornwall and Devon personally. I don't agree that the weather will be too crap to do anything - its usually February that we get the snow and floods etc. Your only real issue is that out of tourist seasons lots of places you might like to go will not be open or only have limited opening. your other option is to stick to cities so Bath would be fun for that.

Edinburgh is really family friendly and a great place to visit for finding out more about the UK.
Edinburgh castle
Royal Yacht Britannia
Camera Obscua and World of Illusions
Museum of Childhood
Edinburgh Zoo (home to UK's only pair of giant pandas)
Palace of Holyroodhouse (the official Scottish residence of our queen and where a Mary Queen of Scots lived) - lots of family activities and free audio guide
Dynamic Earth - a really worthwhile natural history/science exploration centre.
Cadies and Witchedy tour
The Real Mary King Close

Both great suggestions - I’ve done both on my own. Although won’t weather in Edinburgh be horrible?

We have friends in Cornwall so we could use the excuse to see them too
