Welcome to our UK travel forum where you can get advice on everything from holidays to exotic destinations, to tips on London travel.

Please does anyone have any recommedations for a nice country hotel, not too far from London, around £150pn, for a short getaway? I've found lots of really lovely places for £200pn+, but can't really afford that.

I don't drive, so would be looking for somewhere nearish to a station, and am not mad keen on pubs-with-rooms) because of noise/drinkers etc. Thank you for any suggestions!

TheAngel in Bury St Edmunds is lovely.

Beaulieu Hotel in the New Forest is within walking distance of the station, even when you've got a suitcase! It takes about 1hr45mins on the train from Waterloo including one change. It has an indoor pool, bikes for hire and New Forest ponies grazing directly opposite the front door.
