Pleeease could somebody help me?!
Need to spend a week in London with two dc as one is attending an event every day near Covent Garden.
Budget is tight (thanks to cost of the event!) and I realise anywhere within walking distance is out of my reach but can anyone recommend somewhere easily commutable but affordable nearby? Happy with budget hotels, air bnb etc as long as they’re near a tube station and not too far to travel, maybe 30 mins or so. Even a hostel would be fine as long as it had private rooms!
My geography skills are extremely limited and I can’t work out which areas are best... any tips much appreciated Smile

Depends how fussy you are?

would you consider a backpacker style place? If so I have stayed at several...with my son and without.

this one was quite good fun, as it is an old court house, at Kings Cross, so more or less walking distance..

there is also 'Safestay' Elephant and Castle (Walworth road) which is the old Labour party HQ.

or there are the 'Smart hostels' like Russell Square..

If it’s a clean, private room and preferably with our own bathroom then I will stay anywhere!

This one seems cheap at £56 per night? Sleeps 4 with sofa apparently.

Have a look at Docklands or Croydon. Both are cheapish and an easy commute to Central London.

Thank you. I’ll check these out.

It may be further than you'd like (and not certain of the cost) but there is a Premier Inn by Lewisham Station you could check for family rooms. Then you could take a train each day to Charing Cross (about 20 mins on the train and so close to Covent Garden).

or have a look on laterooms.com and 'search by price'...

The generator hostel near st Pancras is really central and you can walk to c.g. there is a premier inn and Travelodge in c.g, when are you travelling up.

Got a few options now, I think. Ideally I’d like somewhere we can make our own light meals etc. It’s in August so I have time to book but I’m guessing prices are also more expensive then!

You could try Marlin Apartments - they have a few aparthotels in London, some more central than others. They have cooking facilities and are private apartments so you’re able to self cater to save on costs.
