Things to do in west Cornwall

There's lots to see and do at Cornwall Gold in Redruth. There are loads of hands on activities which my dc found really engaging and we also enjoyed the crazy golf afterwards.
Pirate’s Quest in Newquay is an immersive walkthrough experience combing actors, special effects and detailed 360° sets. It keeps getting better every year as they add more to it, and it's a great way to learn about Cornwall's pirate history.
Lappa Valley Steam Railway has a few different railway lines to explore and makes a really pleasant day out. Older children will enjoy the additional kayak lake and there's a maze and lovely play area for younger children.
A half-day spent on the rides at Flambards is worth the money. It's good for all ages.
If your dc are fairly young, they'll love Dairyland Farm World!
Bodmin Jail is absolutely brilliant for older children and a good wet-weather trip.
If you go near St Mawgan, I'd definitely recommend a visit to the Japanese Garden. It's quite large and our whole family loved exploring it.

Dairyland is great for little ones, see if you can catch a Squashbox Theatre show as well for them, Rogue theatre may also be doing their summer production in the woods.

The National Maritime Museum in Falmouth is good particularly for a wet day. Levant mine is owned by the NT and has a steam engine. St Michael’s Mount is beautiful. It’s fun to walk along the causeway one way and get the boat the other. If you like cider Healey’s close to perranporth is nice. They do tractor rides in the orchards. Lush apple themed cream teas.

Our favourite beach is at Polzeath. better for slightly older children as you can hire surf boards if you want but the younger kids do seem to like it as well. have a look at the visitcornwall website. they used to be the tourist board and they have loads of suggestions on there. there is also a website called something like 1001 things to do in cornwall when its raining. might be useful to just have it to hand just in case. Mine enjoyed Porthcurno and lots of the national trust places and walks as well. there is a mining museum that's good but cant remember the name. also Minack theatre is supposed to be worth a look but we have never made it. avoid lands end tacky and horrible imo.
