Suffolk - is it boring?

My son is trying to persuade me to book a week on a houseboat in Suffolk - near Beccles. It doesn't move, it just sits on the water and is full of spiders according to reviews. I don't have spider fear.
Can anyone recommend nice/ interesting places or things to do round there?

Southwold and the North Suffolk coast is nearby, it is all lively.

There are better areas of Suffolk than Beccles! As already mentioned, Southwold is lovely, as is nearby Walterswick, Thorpeness and Aldeburgh.
