Holiday cottage on Tarka Trail, Devon?

We're looking for a holiday cottage rental in north Devon, for next summer where we can cycle from the door straight onto the Tarka Trail.

I've trawled through hundreds of ads and can't find what we want - a detached, 3 to 4 bedroom property, nowhere near the owner's house or any other holiday cottages - we want privacy, solitude and peace.

We'd also like a really clean property (having stayed in some questionable holiday lets in the past - but not in this area).

Can anyone recommend somewhere for us? Everywhere I've found is either right next door to the owners or not detached or one of a cluster of holiday cottages next to each other and we really want our own space.

You are going to have to compromise I am afraid. if you want to be able to cycle straight out onto the trail then so does everyone else and this is why you will find clusters of accommodation rather than individual cottages. you are also looking for something quite big as well which limits your choice again.

I would have a word with the visitdevon offices and see if they can help. also try airbnb but basically I think you either get to cycle onto the trail or you get a detached cottage with no neighbours - you aren't going to get both!
