Wales or Scotland

We are planning on staying in the UK for our 2018 holiday. We have a week to 10 days. The choice is Scotland or Wales as not done either of these yet.

If you have been to both which do you prefer. We like sightseeing, history, castles, nature and good food.

It sounds like Edinburgh would be the place for you! edinburgh.org/discover/edinburgh-city-guides/family/

I would go up west coast of Scotland including a few days on Mull for wildlife spotting. To avoid midges either late spring or if tied to school holidays - English Aug bank holiday as Scottish schools have gone back by then. We've been up there then a few times and had sunny weeks with very little rain.

i would go to pembrokeshire or north wales. it chucked it down when we went on holiday to scotland and it seemed to take ages to get anywhere as everything very spread out and the lochs and mountains all started to look similar......i'm saying this from my childhood recollections in the rain....so prepared to be flamed here.

wales seems a lot easier to get round as its smaller scale and pembrokeshire is like cornwall but without the crowds

Went to Scotland from east to west in June / July . Never saw the sun for 10 days and was bored rotten.
Had 12 days in Cardiff mid to end of August. Was fab. Loads to do and the weather was great.
I'd have about 3-4 days n wakes near snowdonia hot get your fill of the mountains , then drive to the south for the rest of the time.
Love Wales.

Ignore the anecdotes about the weather and check the actual weather in the month you’re going.
For example the east of Scotland is definitely less rainy than north wales!
