Hi all
Any help much appreciated. Normally myself, my sisters and our families and my parents go to France every other year for a couple of weeks in July for a Euro camp style holiday. Unfortunately my mother has dementia and it is becoming harder for us to go abroad.
We have therefore agreed that this year we'll stick to the uk and go in the May half term for a week. We live in East Anglia so we'd be looking for something within a reasonable difference (husbands will probably not come for the whole time as the family can get a bit wearing for us so can be a complete nightmare for them) but happy to travel to say Forest of Dean/Yorkshire/Peaks/ New Forest/Norfolk/Suffolk but not say Wales/Scotland or even probably the Lake District. We are 7 adults and 6 children ranging in ages from (by then) 4 to 13. Although all but one 9+. They will need lots of activity (they're like dogs, you have to exercise them) and it would be good to be in a safe environment to give them a bit of freedom but also somewhere we can all help out with mum.
We're looking either:-
- similar cabin style holiday (centre parcs but not so pricey). I have had a look at the forestry commission camp sites, does anyone have any experience of that? We'd be looking at 4 cabins.
- farm stay again some kind of cabin/glamping type thing. Would need to have a bit more interest for the older kids say with swimming pool/tennis court type thing.
- house that could fit us all, so at least 8 bedrooms. To be honest this is my least preferred last time we did this it was a bit claustrophobic but would be good to discount.
Don't get me wrong, price is a factor but most important is going to the right place so if anyone does have any thoughts then they would be gratefully received.
Thank you!
