I know MrsJC, and I quailed at the thought of the "friend's flat in Ladywell" too, I have to say . Definite Withnail tendencies I bet...
Sadly the Bardon Lodge is now luxury apartments. All our out-of-town wedding guests stayed there and partied on in the garden til 4am so it was a sad day for us when it shut
Agree that the IBIS is a possibility - it is much more central than the Holiday Inn, almost by the DLR.
Could you maybe e-mail your bro and see if anyone NOT in the choir is away that week? Am thinking of the RWs, the JCs and a few others in ownership of nice large houses in the Lee Conservation area
I am off all that week beety so that's a definite date one way or the other.

oh is it? I remember a school friends' parents started it, they were called Barbara and Donald I believe . So that was useless info for Beety then! (Really didn't realise it had shut. We actually stayed there on our wedding night, us and a lot of foreign students - very funny)

will ask my bro again but he came up with nothing before

Were you in the "no-frills" annexe in St John's Park by mistake then MrsJC? My parents stayed there once and were served lukewarm cups of tapwater with a teabag floating in them by a kind but totally clueless South African teenager.
Mum marched her off to the kitchen on day three and showed her how to make a pot of tea

Beety, we'll be about as well, if the thought of the Inferiorettes doesn't strike too much terror into your heart!

lol@marina - we once won a prized in the school raffle for a sunday lunch at the clarendon, and remember the cabbage well.

Beety, we live 15 mins drive from blackheath, but will be here for most of the hols.

But how about trying Trinity College of Music or Greenwich University - both establishments are located in the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich and as it's the holidays, it's very possible that they may rent out roooms as the students won't be there. Really good place to stay, not that far from Lewisham. And if you tell them the purpose of your trip they may be especially helpful.

Also, there's a place just next to Greenwich Station (not the Cutty Sark station- the other one) can't remember its name but it specialises in cheap but good accommodation aimed at students and backpackers - might be worth looking into. It's Called' St Christophers' I think.

Lastly, an actor friend of mine runs a very tasteful and slighty eccentric bed and breakfast in the middle of Greenwich. It's near the docklands railway - direct line to Lewisham. If you decide to b&b it, I can give him a ring.

Just had a look at the rock school website and am really interested. My oldest son would love it. I don't know if he has enough of a musical background to be eligible, and Easter may not be the best time for us, but I'm going to give the school a phone today

If you want me to do any research into accommodation, let me know.

TYigermoth - i will call Trinity College of Music or Greenwich University and see what they have to offer.

Can you also give your actor mate a call as that might be an idea.

The Felix School Of Rock requires very little exprience - the beauty of it is that you get al different ranges of expreiene.

Email via the website.

Good luck with your phone calls. Even if the colleges cannot help, they may be able to put you in touch with someone who can. If they know why you are up here and how keen on music your children are, Trinity in particular might be extra helpful.

I'll speak to the rock school to find out more and will ring my friend. I'll CAT you soon!

We can turn the whole pack of them loose in the the park (ds is learning something he calls tug ragby at school ) and get some coffee and cakes in at the pav tea-room.
Beety, I am seeing the choir pal this afternoon for her dd's birthday party, so will ask her to put the notice up in church (have sinking feeling DoM, being a Man, hasn't done it).
Your ds1 would LOVE that course tigermoth - hope there's still a place
