Legoland.................should we go?

........sorry, I know there's lots on this already but I'm just not sure what to do. Ds1 (7) has been asking to go for a couple of years but I just don't fancy it and I've heard horror stories about queues. We would be travelling from Somerset, also with dh, dd(6) and ds2(1). His birthday's in July but I spose we could go anytime really. I guess the real question is would he be dissapointed, will it live up to his expectations? I could just about bear it if I thought he would really, really love it.

It's nice - not as tacky as most of the theme parks ! Once you've paid to get in everything is free - apart from food. You can take a picnic though !

I loathe theme parks but like Legoland - it's quite innocent iyswim - not a tenny place at all - so nice really !

They would love it - and it won't be as bad as you are thinking it will be !

If you are worried about queues, try and go on an inset day. It is expensive, so look out for ticket deals too.

Also - there are loads of tips on here to avoiud the worst queues - essentially be there at or near opening time and head straight to the back of the park and work your way back. The bigger rides are down the back and the queues there sre bad in the afternoon - but on the whole you won't queue fot more than 20 to 30 mins at each thing - and the time flies - the secret is really to chill out and go with the flow !

DH was awful when we took him - he was all angsty and why don't they hurry up - they're incompetent etc - but when told off he chilled out and started to enjoy it a bit more !

Tesco deals are good for saving dosh - we have just got annual passes for less than cost of going in once thanks to Tesco !

We have been for the last two summers with our 3 dc. It has been the best days out of our summers. dc have had great fun, have not stopped talking about it, and overcome some huge fears. don't get any other days like this so real treat. Queues have not been that horrendous. One tip is to start at the 'back' of the park and work your way foward, as most people jump on the first thing they see iyswim!
Also never have paid, have used nectar points (although have noticed that it isn't being promoted on that atm). Can use tesco vouchers again, and good deals on last minute dot com if you don't have any of these.

the annual passes are coming out on clubcard next week, that's good news, we'll be able to go afer school

thanx everyone, I really think we might go then, and the tip about starting at the back of the park is a good one. We're a bit rubbish about getting anywhere on time, should we stay somewhere the night before do you think?

Firstly be aware it is only open from the spring onwards. I was arranging to go week after next and was shocked it isn't open until March, I thought it would be open for half term.

Secondly check out tesco clubcard deals - it will only cost you about £15 in clubcard vouchers for a family of 4 to go.

I haven't been - yet, but friend of mine goes about 15 times a year and her DS loves it (hes 5).

Thanks 2nerves, we went to Longleat once only to find it closed for the winter! We thought we were so prepared too, we had even got loads of cushions on the car seats so they could see higher out of the windows.

Go - it's wonderful!

We went last summer (on a very busy day!) and got there for when it opened, and left as it shut.

We used our clubcard vouchers to pay for entry - ten spent the money we would have spent getting in on accomodation for the night before we went.

We stayed at the /link{http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g186419-d623388-Reviews-The_Prince_Albert-Windsor_Windsor_and_Maidenhead_England.html\prince albert pub} - out of wondsot town, and really close to the park itself - and would recommend that too.

yes the queues were long, but we started from the back of the park, did most of the ride type things in the morning, then did the mini-world, and played in the water park in the afternoon.

DS (then nearly 4) loved it and has already asked to go back there again this summer.
