Thinking about Scarborough?

Thinking of Scarborough for holiday this year can anyone recommend any of the holiday parks also is there a lot of things to do in the area

oh I adore Scarborough, it really is so beautiful. There are many things to do. Peasen(sp) park is wonderful and magical all lit up at night...it looks like a fairytale wonderland and I think they do military boat battles with little model remote control boats over the lake in the park. It is fabulous in Scarborough.

I spent a week in Scarborough. We had very bad weather but the one day it was nice we had a great time on the beach. It is really flat and sandy.

there is also a kids adventure park thing - think it might be called Kinderland or something. We didnt go as ds was too young at the time.

There was an outdoor swimming pool that looked really good, and even in the rain some older kids were still in there having fun. Also went to cisit a good shire horse centre just outside scarborough.

I really enjoyed it.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about Scarborough yesterday too
I've been there twice for day trips a few years ago. Went to Kinderland both times, which we all enjoyed but this was about 9 years ago and I remember thinking at the time that it was beginning to look a bit shabby. Maybe it's been done up though.
Also remember liking Peaseholm Park and the beach (the one near Kinderland) was okay too. Didn't go anywhere else.

Scarborough has plenty to offer. Sealife centre. I just love wandering along the front with an ice cream. Bridlington is also worth a visit you can go on the little train from one end to the other. If you go to Bridlington try some fish and chips from a place called Bust bees,there is a small garden next to it the perfect setting to eat them.

I think that should have been busY bees ? lol ? but if you want really good FnC?s don?t go there, go to the Pride of Brid, bit out of the centre but well worth the walk!!

Is Scarborough ok for parking in the height of summer, hate spending hours looking for spaces and is it quite compact to get around in with a buggy. Also where is good to stay holiday park wise. Thanks

I dont really remember having any problems with parking or buggy. yes it was busy but I cant recall anything major.

We stayed here:

in the cottages but they had a campsite attached. Dont know of any actual holiday parks Im afraid.

If you struggle to park, you can go in the multi-storey attached to the shopping centre and even though the lifts are a) very small and b) don't both go all the way to the top, you will be able to get down with pushchairs, etc.Shopping area ok with buggy - I take my ds in buggy and dd(2) walks. There's lots to do around Scarborough as well, Bridlington, Filey, Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay. Would recommend it.

The Pride of Bridlington is on St.Johns Street (If you come in via the A614 and turn on to the 1038 ? this start off as Scarborough Road, then turns into St. Johns Street ? just before you get to the roundabout where the 1038 turns into Quay Road going past the railway station towards the town centre) It is the best in Yorkshire ? won loads of awards and it?s where all the locals go for FnC?s

We've just booked up to stay here
It and scarborough got an excellent write up in the Sunday Mail Newspaper several months ago and we decided then we would try it out this year with our 3.5 yo and 1 yo.

They have a special offer on just now, saving around £70 off a weeks stay, but it apparently ends at the end of January.

We've never done holiday parks/caravans before so our fingers (and toes!) are crossed it will be as good as the newspaper said - if not, there certainly seem to be plenty to do.

Been to Scarborough area a quite a few times. Stayed at Cayton Bay holiday park (Park Resorts site) which isn't bad, only about 4 miles from Scarborough. Used park and ride to get into centre and back although not with buggy but other park and rides are buggy friendly. Even tho it was busy it was quite easy to get round. Used the 'lifts' with buggy to get to shopping centre from beach area.

I have worked in Scarborough for many months and actually like it. SOme ok places to eat and it is pretty in the sunshine. Really nice people as well very friendly.

I would get the kids and you of course to wear sandals in the sea though as they have some fish with sharp spikes which (cant remember the name) can be quite unpleasant.

Flier, we have booked to go to Cayton Bay aswell, so lets hope its good

i live here in scarborough with 2 under 5s so ask away!!!!! summer is a must bit dead in winter.lots to do here and surrounding area.how old kids and what type things do you like to do?? holiday parks? best bet haven primrose valley.
