Anyone been to Butlins Skegness or Pontins Wales recently ?? Opinions please.

Looking for recommendation (or not!) from anyone who has been recently. Have looked at previous threads but the ones I have found are mostly older so looking for some up-to-date opinions/advice as we have never been to any Butlins/Pontins/Haven etc.
Having DC3 mid June so not really ideal to be going anywhere abroad this year. Would like to go somewhere for a week at end of July which has lots to do for DS1(8) and DS2(4) and thought this might be an option.
Having a look on websites for info but would like to hear some personal experiences of these places if possible.

We last went to Butlins Skegness 3 years ago - and we are going again this year - because we like Skegness anyway and got a cheap deal on Butlins. Last time we stayed there we stayed self-catering in a 2 bed "flat". 1 room had a double bed and another 2 singles, we needed a cot in the room with 2 singles beds and there was ample room. We had a shower. It was the cheapest (bronze?) accomodation but it was spacious and clean. We always have a check round accomodation when we first get in and we found the grill wouldn't like - I called maintenance and a main had come round and it was repaired within 45 mins of us entering the place. You can walk onto the beach from the site. There is loads to do and there is a bus that goes from the site into Skegness centre. Hope this helps.

Thanks TTT. Always better to hear of other peoples experiences. I can't say that the deal on in July is that cheap - its 700 for the week in silver sc accommodation then when I went on Pontins they are doing 50% off for booking before end Feb so deal is 380. To be honest Butlins does look better on the website so don't mind paying that - just unsure as I have no experience of these types of holidays.

we go to both so although butlins is more expensive there is load more to do than pontins or haven.

I have only ever been to Butlins or Haven sites but I know of a couple of people who have been to Pontins (the Brean one) and weren't very impressed - accomodation not very clean, food not too good but that might be because it is one of the older sites.
