Good restaurants in York, please?

Just that. We're staying there two nights. Would like two nice dinners. We like good food, well sourced, European or 'new' British. It would be great to have some suggestions from discriminating posters, so we can avoid tourist traps.

Not boring chains on one hand or hugely expensive £50+ tasting menu only places on the other (there seem to be quite a lot of the latter).
Needs to be pretty central.
TIA.

My suggestions:
Bennetts Bistro, near the Minster (try phoning if online booking doesn't work).
Le Langhe does delicious food but the service is utterly shambolic (read Trip adviser and allow hours!).
Delrios.

Little Italy www.littleitalyrestaurantyork.co.uk/

Limehouse www.limehouserestaurant-york.co.uk/

Grays Court Hotel (more expensive but lovely for afternoon tea) www.grayscourtyork.com/

Have a look at the reviews on tripadvisor as above.
