We live in the East Mids - as far from the sea as you can get I think.

We want a sea side holiday without having to drive too far. Dorset is a bit too far if that helps (visited family there)

Where do you suggest?

What about going East - some beautiful coastline around Norfolk and East Anglia

Lots of lovely bits of Norfolk. Or the Isle of Wight - it's not a massive drive to Southampton or Portsmouth, short crossing over, lovely island with some gorgeous beaches and pretty places to visit.

Another vote for Norfolk. We had a fabulous holiday in Wells-next-the -sea a couple of years ago. The beaches in Norfolk are enormous.

NoMudNoLotus · 29/04/2016 22:53

Northumberland or Pembrokeshire for sure.

Dakin1 · 29/04/2016 22:55

Pembrokeshire has beautiful beaches

mineofuselessinformation · 29/04/2016 23:02

North Notfolk for sure - Holkham, Old Hunstanton, Wells, Brancaster if you want to change it up a bit.

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 29/04/2016 23:04

We're East Mids and go over to Norfolk beaches and back in one day quite often.

TheABC · 29/04/2016 23:05

Midlands here - just been to the Gower in South Wales; absolutely beautiful! I think you need to decide how much droving you are willing to tolerate and then plan accordingly. I can also recommend Norfolk, on the opposite coast.

meridithssister · 29/04/2016 23:08

Pembrokeshire. Stunning beaches. Take wetsuits if you want to swim as the sea never gets warm enough but it has some of the best beaches in the world

serin · 02/05/2016 19:36

From East Midlands I would agree with the posters saying Norfolk. Love Holkham and Wells.

chosenone · 02/05/2016 19:40

Yorkshire coast ? Whitby, Scarborough, Robin Hoods Bay ? Reighton Sands Haven is right on the beach and is a nice little camp.

Holkham is the biggest beach I have ever been on.

A couple of years ago the schools in our LA broke up about 5 days before most of the other schools in England, and this is what Hollkham beach looked like when we were there.

The Suffolk coast is lovely too. How about the Southwold and Aldeburgh areas?

We like Bridlington for Beaches. Fraisethorpe is lovely too.

Love Holkham and Hunstanton, but the

Welsh beaches at Tenby and Pendine are lovely as well. My favorite as a child was Caswell Bay Swansea

Coldtoeswarmheart · 08/05/2016 17:22

Pembrokeshire. South Beach in Tenby is beautiful and gently shelving. Broadhaven South is heavenly.

BestIsWest · 08/05/2016 17:24

Tenby is great with lovely beaches but maybe a long drive from East Midlands. The Gower is fantastic too.

P1nkP0ppy · 08/05/2016 17:26

Lots of beautiful beaches in Wales, especially Rhosilli on the Gower, Harlech, Aberdovey, Lleyn Peninsula and Abersoch especially.

AverysillyoldHector · 08/05/2016 17:27

Norfolk or Suffolk. North Norfolk has the most amazing beaches. Southwold has a good beach and a very entertaining pier. Or how about N Yorkshire or Northumberland? The beach at Whitby is great; if Northumberland isnt too far, then you'll find mile after mile of beaches there.

gunting · 08/05/2016 17:45

I lived a landlocked childhood in the midlands and now spend a lot of time in Northumberland. It's stunning and lots of beaches to choose from. There's also an awful lot of things to see on non beach days like castles and Alnwick garden which is STUNNING
