London without kids

Rare, rare occasion to go to London with DH and no kids. Not excited at all .

Can you give me some recommendations please, of things to do that are not so suitable for children (we can think of loads to do that the kids would like)? Thanks.

I would go to the west end and see a show in the afternoon. Then I'd head to Camden and drink a lot. That might just be me though
There are also some great comedy clubs in London (that I can't for the life of me remember the names of right now...)

Depends what you two enjoy most really... fine dining, theatre, comedy, live music, sightseeing, art galleries, cocktails... what floats your boat?

Thanks for the replies - comedy club is one we hadn't thought of. Art galleries without kids might be good - we might actually be able to read about some of the art without being dragged to the next one.

Don't know what I am looking for really - maybe if there is anything unusual that you wouldn't think of if you hadn't done it before iyswim.

Do the walk over the 02, the power boat ride on the Thames , the Jack the Ripper walking tour is interesting and includes pubs!

More good ideas- thanks - the walk over the O2 could be fun. And the Jack the Ripper walk, although I'm a bit jumpy so might be a choice I'd regret.

Sky Garden at night is great. And Gordon's wine bar is my favourite place to kill a few hours (bottles)

I was going to suggest a walking tour - there are loads Harry Potter, Jack the Ripper, Victorian London etc. I always think a rooftop bar is nice but might be a bit cold. Depending on when you are going there is a light festival on at the moment and I believe a special menu/deal for dining at the top of the shard is still going on too...

There's a 'dining in the dark place' in
London. My friend has just been and said its brilliant. That could be fun!

The bar at the BFI is lovely. Have also heard v good things about the 'in the dark' restaurant, but haven't been myself.

Definitely see a show.

I really like the Wellcome Collection and the Hunterian museum, small quirky museums which don't get packed and don't take hours and hours. Ditto the Old Operating Theatre.

I'd definitely see a show, and agree with a matinee to leave the evening free. Then I'd probably have an evening meal, obviously TONS of choice. There's a darling little pizza place in Soho whose name escapes me. It's small, maybe 15 tables so blink and you'll miss it. But it's gorgeous freshly made pizza and a bargain. Think Dh and I paid £20 for two pizzas and a couple of drinks. Then I'd pick a really busy area like Leicester SQ or Covent Garden and try and get a window seat in a bar to sit and people watch.

BTW ref seeing a show, try and decide on a show you like and go direct to the box office. You can queue for ages at a "half price booth" and pay more than if you went direct. Then, buy the tickets you can afford,find your seats, scan the auditorium, look for better, empty seats. Race down to the foyer 10 mins before the show starts and ask to upgrade free of charge It's worked for me a few times

Brilliant - thanks so much for the suggestions. I'll go and do some research on those ideas. Weather is actually a factor that I had totally forgot to think about - from the frozen north, so just assume that London is lovely and warm all the time .
