Claridges, The Savoy or somewhere else?

I love hotels but have never been to either of these and like the look of both (this is for a wedding anniversary night away)

Does anyone have any opinions or recent experience of either to share?

Or is there anywhere else in London I should consider? (Want a change from One Aldwych, The Soho etc)

We really liked The Landmark and The Langham - both traditional, old school types. I'd like to try One Aldwych, what did you think of it?

I absolutely love Claridges but I'd probably stay somewhere else and go to Claridges for tea or something. I never think the rooms live up to the downstairs experience of the hotel.
The Connaught is lovely (same group), have never stayed at the Savoy and not been there since it was bought out. i Love One Aldwych.
How about the Covent Garden or Charlotte Street hotel?
I also really like the new-ish Ham Yard hotel - I haven't stayed there though, just eaten there and the rooms are very bright so you need to like Kit Kemp's colourful style probably to stay there.

I haven't stayed at the savoy, but we went to the grill last year for an anniversary meal and it was fantastic - great food and service. Also the American bar is gorgeous, and the cocktails to die for. We stayed in Hazlitt's in Soho, which has a very different vibe (Georgian townhouse, lots of antiques), but which was fabulous.

The Goring. The restaurant has just been awarded a Michelin star and the staff treat you like long lost friends. It's very traditional but wonderful. There's a reason why the Middleton's stayed there the night before the Royal Wedding.

I used to do claridges in the grand piano suite or the savoy in any of the personality suites, over all I would stay at the savoy but if you go with claridges order the Davies street burger and the lobster Russian winter salad from room service (if it's still on the menu).

Oh thank you for these! I like One Aldwych, very much and have stayed quite a bit but just fancy a change. I was wondering that, re the rooms, cooper44, they just ding look amazing unless you pay £££££ for a suite.

Hmm, gave had a drink in The Landmark, too trad I think. Haven't looked at The Langham, will do. Have stayed at Covent Garden and Charlotte St recently of actually, no, actually, was The Soho, not The Covent Garden, don't fancy Ham Yard, I think I'm a bit over Kit Kemp decor tbh
