Center Parcs and bikes

We are a family of four and we are going to Longleat at the end of August. Should we take bikes or hire them? Any other tips. Thank you!

If you can take bikes I would do that as it can be expensive otherwise. Or take the kids bikes and just hire one adult one (we hire just one adult bike, our children are 9, 6 and 3 so we need one adult one foot to supervise the younger two!).

Is Longleat the hilly Center Parcs? We've only been to Sherwood Forest and Whinfell Forest but have booked Elveden Forest for next Feb half term (taking advantage of the fact that Sheffield half term starts on Mon 8th Feb, a week before everyone else, therefore a 4-bed woodland lodge is costing us £390 as opposed the the £1,200 everyone else is going to have to pay the following week! I love CP but think the price hikes for school holidays are extortionate!)

depends on kids age - up until our DS turned 8-9 we always had 2 bikes and a trailer for him - great for putting swim bag and shopping in the trailer next to him. Also in the Winter when its dark and cold we could get back to the villa pronto!!!

He now has his own bike but we tend to walk now. Also take care if you do take yr own bikes to bring them in at night otherwise they may get pinched like my friends!!!

We took the kids bikes and hired adults. Apparently, it's quite,common for bikes to get stolen, especially from Elveden, I think.

Thank you for your replies. Not sue Alice if Longleat is hilly as not been before. River, great idea to take kids bikes and hire adult ones! Will let you know.

Bikes don't get used as much in longleat as it IS the hilly one, there is a mini train that goes round the park and people just hop on and off that or walk (mainly train as its a big centerparcs too)

I definitely wouldn't hire a bike there, we wouldn't bother taking bikes but at least you have the option if you take them and no extra expense

Oh, the train is free BTW, i t goes around constantly and I think it's around every 20-30min at each stop and the map tells you approx what time it will be arriving (eg 10 past the hour at stop A, 15 min past at stop B, 25 min past the hour at stop C ) so you can just keep that in your pocket, and of course it's displayed at the stop itself
