How far up Scotland are you starting? And whereabouts in Suffolk are you heading? Are you thinking of an overnight break, food, or just somewhere to get out and stretch legs? What age kids (if any)?

For National Trust leg stretching, suggest Hadrian's Wall or Fountains Abbey for starters.
