October Half Term - 2-3 nights away. Where???

We live on a farm so want city/town rather than rural and we're based in the SW so was thinking perhaps Cardiff, but is there plenty for DCs 4 & 6 to do?

We're happy to travel a fair while, but we're off to London in the summer so that's out (for this holiday).

Any suggestions on where and nice hotels would be hugely appreciated.

Birmingham area? Cadbury world, thinktank science museum, west midlands safari park, Drayton Manor is great for that age, go for curry.

We had a great long weekend in Bristol when my two were younger, loads to do and see. We stayed in Jurys Inn as it had a deal on at the time and was close to @Bristol, but every hotel seems to be in Bristol. You can go on a boat trip, see the big SS Great Britain, the theatre is really good. Great food places too.
