Driving Lessons for my Daughter

My 17 yr old daughter wants to start her driving lessons, but I’ve heard mixed things about instructors and lessons, not to mention the cost! Is there anything I should be wary of booking lessons for her?

I think you have to go by reputation locally.

Some "schools" spend a considerable amount of time parked up at the side of the road, while they 'explain' things to pupils.
Some offer a free re-test if you don't pass your first one, but obviously it's in their interests to then not say you are ready until some time after you might be ready for your test.
Presumably some people are just better teachers than others.
I'd have thought that some are better timekeepers than others too.
