Hi Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant just for 2 of us Thurs pm? We have a night stay there at the Grand and although its only up the road from us in brighton I know nothing about eating out there!

Eat at the Grand?

noddyholder · 21/04/2015 15:03

Thats what I was thinking but thought might be nice to go out too if there was somewhere really good close by. Off to look at the menu Thanks

La Locanda (italian) and Flamenco Tapas are both not far from the Grand and do nice food

pnutter · 21/04/2015 15:11

2 BULLS Steakhouse if you are meat eaters. The best steak ever. Or pier 9 at the zanzibar in St Leonards

MargolottaOfUberwold · 21/04/2015 15:14

Pier 9 is nice, but not as good as the grand and a hell of a schlep from Eastbourne?

pnutter · 21/04/2015 15:17

Yeah pier 9 was the second nearest I could think of :-) not from that area but visit occasionally

magimedi · 21/04/2015 16:20

I'd also go for 2 Bulls steakhouse - most amazing steaks I've ever eaten.

If not, I'd stick with The Grand - it's meant to be pretty good.

Two Bulls is very casual & you would need to get a taxi there from The Grand - it would take you about 30 mins to walk there.

Thanks am just waiting for dp to come in and then I am going to book one of them!

Enjoy The Grand - it really is grand - the most amazing wedding cake of a building!

If you are looking for paper/fags etc in the morning, there are a few shops at the back of the hotel.

Sharpkat · 21/04/2015 17:02

We are off to the Grand for 2 nights in June. Was looking at booking Bibendum French for lunch on the Sunday. We are eating at the Mirabelle restaurant at the Grand on the Saturday night.

Does anyone recommend or discourage me from booking Bibendum French?

noddyholder · 21/04/2015 17:07

I am leaning to eating in the hotel as we are both absolutely knackered atm after a bit of a full on stressy time and I think it might do us good to make it easy! The Mirabelle menu looks great

I definitely prefer the look of the Mirabelle menu to the Garden Restaurant. Just struggling to find anywhere open in Eastbourne on a Sunday evening hence my late lunch plan.

magimedi · 21/04/2015 22:14

If you are knackered, I'd deffo go for eating in the hotel. AL the other places are either a 10+ min walk or a taxi ride away.

I haven't eaten in The Grand, but have lots of friends who have & all came back with good reports.

noddyholder · 22/04/2015 09:26

In it is!

Let us know what you think of it, noddy.

noddyholder · 22/04/2015 12:58

Will do I am quite looking forward to it now! Dp has 3 days off so we are going to drive to hastings first and look round the old town antique shops and have lunch and then check in to the hotel. Will be like a mini holiday which we really need. i am going to try and book a facial as they have a spa and fit a swim in if my costume still fits!

If the weather stays as nice as it is, it is well worth driving up the downs - turn right when coming out the hotel & having a look at Beachy Head & onto Birling Gap. About a 10 min drive. You could even walk there from the hotel - quite a climb but amazing views.

noddyholder · 22/04/2015 14:23

Yes have been to those might venture up there on Friday before we drive back :)

Please let us know how the Grand and the Mirabelle are Noddy. We are very excited about our long weekend away in June Grin

magimedi · 26/04/2015 17:37

How was it?

I drove past the Grand about 9.00am on Friday & thought of going into the dining room & yelling out: 2Who's Noddy?".

But I thought better of it Grin
