Are there any beaches near Wadebridge in Cornwall that little kids can swim at?

I am trying to book our summer holiday and have spotted a lovely place near Wadebridge. There are photos of some gorgeous beaches nearby but I am worried they may be too surfy and not suitable for swimming or little kids paddling. We have been to north Devon a few times and although the beaches are lovely and big with great sand for playing, they want to swim as well and couldn't due to the surf.

Does anyone know if there are beaches we can swim in, where the surf isn't too big, within a short drive of Wadebridge? We are looking to book in the next day or two and just can't work it out! Thanks

We have taken our DC swimming at Rock but it is a bit of a drive.

Generally speaking the North coast of Cornwall is where the best surfing takes place. we love going to Polzeath as there is the opportunity to paddle in but the sea isn't really for swimming in but could be for body boarding. if you want calmer seas for your little one then look over on the South coast near Looe. Looe itself has a lovely beach but the one nearby at Seaton is our favourite. the kids can swim in the sea and its usually not too crowded. we have stayed HERE since the kids were little. you can also try the cornwall tourist board website for other places to stay and if you use the map it will show you whether you are nearer the north or the south coast. hope you find something.

Daymer Bay, just round the corner from Polzeath is tucked round the Estuary and therefore not good for surfing but good for paddling and swimming. Polzeath is ok but much more surfy; it does have some nice deep rock pools for floating in which egg warm in the summer.

Polzeath and Daymer are only about a 15 minute drive from Wadebridge.

We live near Wadebridge and sometimes swim at Harlyn Bay. Tregirls/Hawker's Cove is lovely too and hardly anyone surfs there.

I'd hire or buy wetsuits for your DC as the water is cold.

Trebarwith is beautiful.
Bude has a sea pool.
