Any suggestions? We have 2 dc, 9 and 4, so somewhere with things to do with them would be good.

London is the obvious choice and probably where we'll end up going but it would be nice to go somewhere different.

Thank you!

Norwich!

buyryte · 13/11/2014 15:57

I was also going to say Norwich

PotteringAlong · 13/11/2014 15:59

Birmingham!

PotteringAlong · 13/11/2014 15:59

Cadbury world, Christmas market, think tank, canals. What's not to love?

LaCerbiatta · 13/11/2014 17:17

Will the Christmas Market be there between Christmas and new year?
Is Birmingham nice? Pretty from a tourist perspective?

Norwich is nice but we've been before and it's small enough and close enough to just go for the day.

Thank you for all the suggestions!

I thought Newbury was lovely .corn exchange theatre, cinema in centre of town. Another cinema in walking distance. Nice traffic calmed town centre. Walks by canal. Winchester very nice half hour away. Watermill theatre.
plenty of eateries.
I thought it was lovely.

no the Birmingham market packs up before christmas so it won't be there.

I would do the Norfolk coast, windy walks on the beach and lots of cafes for hot chocolate and crumpets.

Birmingham....avoid! Sorry folks...but just too busy. My least favourite city. I'd rather chew my leg off.
Getting into it is a nightmare by car and it's not very pretty at all.

Tewkesbury is lovely. Or Stratford on Avon. St Albans was nice but you are close enough to go for the day.

How about getting the train to York. Fabulous city. Loads to do. Brilliant shopping. You won't need a car.

It's got everything.

Lincoln?

Cathedral, castle, small but good museum.

BlueChampagne · 21/11/2014 20:56

You should just about be able to get to Canterbury under 2 hours if the traffic is kind.

ixos · 22/11/2014 15:19

Southwold. Sea. Beach. Pier. Shops. Cafes.

IsabellaofFrance · 06/12/2014 11:32

I was going to suggest Lincoln too - lovely walk up Standard hill with all the independent shops.

Brighton? Probably more like 2 1/2 hours, but worth it! or Whitstable and Rye are meant to be nice
