Stamford

Hello. Just started work at Lincoln uni but can't abide lincolnshire in terms of a place to live. Am currently looking at places within an hour and wondered if anyone could advise on stamford and if its a doable commute ? I have heard its very nice and am looking for somewhere with nice shops, cafe culture, delis restaurants etc. My other option is Oakham. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Stamford is lovely, it possesses all of the things you mentioned although I can't vouch for the café culture side of things. It is a do-able commute to Lincoln although over an hour allowing for rush hour traffic?
Oakham is also similar and very nice, if the same sort of journey times. Are you able to spend a couple of days visiting both and get a feel for which you prefer as well as checking on the commute?

Hi pickles thanks for your message. Yes we do intend on visiting and staying over and then leaving for lincoln at say 7am, we figured this would miss most of rush hour. Do you think it would be apprx 1hr out of rush hour traffic ? I like the look of both, although I feel Stamford looks as if it has more in the way of shops, restaurants etc ?
