just back from CP at sherwood forest. mainly a good stay but 2 things really peed me off. our accomodation STANK of cig smoke and couldn't get rid of it all week, and we were there with 2 young babies. also, the one night we tried to eat out we queued for 15 mins in a queue with lots of other yound kids to be told there was a 30 min wait for a table (though plenty of empty tables). I suggested they advdertise this at the door to stop young families waiting and just got a mouthful of rubbish. parts of the park were great, but other parts were really not thought through. Oh, and there were no batteries in the remote controls!!!

Mmmm - I posted about CP Sherwood Forest recently, particularly the poor quality of food available.

And now you mention it, our cabin stank of pee, from where I don't know but it was pretty foul.

I agree, parts of it were great and other parts weren't. Am ashamed to say I didn't write a letter when I got home to let them know just how bad the food is, but I should have, we'd probably go back if the food was better.

My sis made a big fuss after one of our trips to Center Parcs and refused to accept their first paltry attempts at recompense. We ended up getting £100 pounds off free bikes and an upgraded chalet. it was just after it changed from Oasis and the place was a disater. Hole in the sofa, broken toilet which they never managed to fix a missing slat in the sofa bed, their solution to that was to bring another mattress and have my son sleep on the floor. Complain at the time and don't give up till you're satisfied.

ANAconda confirmed what I always suspected of these places, I like the setting but as they are run by haven/ butlins or whatever name it is under I always wondered. Very overpriced holiday camp me thinks.

Thats a shame..we went to the lakes one a couple of weeks ago and it was fab..didnt have any problems at all..suppose half of it is luck.

Skribble · 01/10/2006 10:58

Shouldn't be down to luck though at those prices really .

Nemo1977 · 01/10/2006 10:59

very true skribble as the prices are horrendous both for the holiday and when you get there!!

I went to the lakes on recently and there was 4 families and every meal we ate out they got wrong! None of the waiter spoke english so just brought steaks out and said they were all cooked meduim! The lodge wasnt great but not dangerous or dirty but cant complain as it only cost us £10 each.

Sorry folks but have to speak up here....... Just return from our first ever time at CP and we thought it was great! We went to Sherwood in 3 bed Comfort villa.
Really pleased with condition of villa - thought it would be a bit shabby. Ate out and had takeaway and it was all good. Although the Market is a bit more expensive - you cant say they dont have a bit of everything if there is something you have forgotten.
Not I dont have rose tinted specs - yes there are not enough changing rooms with a baby change in the swimming pool and the floor is very slippy if you are carrying a baby.
The cot was clean and it was a new matress in June 06, beds were fine and bedding was all clean.
No I dont work for them but I did read threads before I went and was worried what we were going to let oursleves in for.
Hope this reassures some people?

Been to CP four times now and if I ever have to go again I'm taking rope to hang myself with. All the other mothers are smug, wear revolting cagoules (how the hell do you spell that) and children are called quaint Victorian parlour maid names which they trill out at frequent intervals. The food is rubbish. The wine overpriced. Changing rooms too small for a big old bird like myself with two energetic boys trying to get a glimpse of their mother's breasts as she sweats to dry them off in a 2cm squared space. I sign up for every available talk/demonstration and never ever attend any of them. The best part was seeing a man naked on his balcony.

tulips take it your pool didnt have the family cubicles??? Was fab at lakes as am a bit of a heffa and also 6mths pg while having to deal with a 9mth old and a 3yr old to get dressed had loads of room and dh was in with us aswell.
Only thing I agree so far is that the flooring around the pool was very slippy.

twas all true myermay including naked man. Sadly found myself hanging out of window for rest of weekend to see if he sauntered out onto balcony again. DH thought I was taking sudden keen interest in surrounding flora and fauna .. as if!? Now wondering where to go next year .. any suggestions anyone??
