Smiley faces etc

Does anyone know how I can post smiley faces etc. my efforts using an emoji keyboard and an I Pad only produce empty brackets on the post although the smiley faces are produced as I type. Anyone with a solution would be great. This is what happens ??????

have you tried writing them as demonstrated on the pc e.g. [ smile ] with no spaces between the word and the brackets would give a

you need square brackets [ ]

You need the square brackets [] tap on the .?123 key then tap on the #+= key and you will see the square brackets

Get the iPhone app and all the faces are there

Wonderful. I have an I a Pad and the keyboard needs an extra tap to reveal the square brackets. I am now going mad with delight .

PuppyMonkey I only have an I pad not an I phone. The emoji keyboard works well on e mails to great effect as you can get moving figures/animals etc. However Mumsnet defeats it's capabilities. It' is great fun. I feel like a child with a new toy!
