Restaurants IOW

We're having a night away at the weekend for my birthday with DS1 (5) and my mum, staying in Ventnor. Does anyone have any suggestions for a nice restaurant for a reasonably priced meal in or around that area? Before DS1 arrived we thoroughly enjoyed a meal at The Hamborough but life has changed a little now!!

Was going to suggest the Hambrough! Although apparently Robert Thompson sold it last year, so not sure what it's like now - you could try their other restaurant though - The Pond Cafe in Bonchurch - it's a lot more casual, and less expensive.

The only other place, but it's nowhere near Ventnor and only open during the day, is Quarr Abbey. Food is great though and it's a lovely place to wander around when the weather's good.

The Steamer at Shanklin was nice. Lovely setting opposite the beach, fab on a sunny day with outside seating. Good reviews on trip advisor too. You can park up on the cliff in Shanklin (old village?) and walk down cliff path/road or chine to the beach and along to various restaurants. Sunny day helps a lot!
