lake district with a pre schooler and a baby - suggestions for things to do if its wet and cold please!

we've just booked a holiday in the Lake District (staying nearish to Ullswater) for the first week in September. If its sunny we'll be happy going for walks etc (although any sunny day suggestions are welcome too), but I am wondering what we can do with ourselves if its raining (other than rainy walks and puddle jumping of course!)

any suggestions would be very welcome as its over 10 years since I've been to the Lakes and I definitely wasn't thinking about children back then!

I am originally from south lakes and when I go home my boys love the Rheghed center, near Pentith. It's a visitors center with a cinema, soft play, paint your own pottery place. As well as some lovely shops and cafés.
Last year they had a grufflalo exhibition on with a little indoor forest to sit and colour in grufflalo pictures. It's worth a visit even I'd it doesn't rain!

Can't think of much else but Lowther castle has a lovely child friendly tea room/cafe and grounds.

If the weather is nice, Aira Force falls and maybe Askham pool if it's still open.

Oh and I think there's some sort of Beatrix potter thing in bowness? We went years ago as kids.
