My husband is working in Cardiff during October half term and we are thinking of all going along for 2-3 days. Any ideas of where we should stay (2 adults and 2 children - 3 and 5 yrs)

Techniquest is good. Have taken 2 of my dds age 5 and 4, although they enjoyed it when younger too. It's an interactive science sort of a place, maybe someone from Cardiff will come along and explain better than me!

Try the Welsh Folk Museum in St Fagans (a few miles out of town) if its dry. Filled with rebuilt homes from all over Wales and renovated to the period when they were new. They have a lot of re enactments and demonstrations. Horse and cart rides etc.

There's also a huge soft play/indoor adventure place in the north of the north of the city called 'Jump'. Great for wet weather. Type Jump Llanishen into google to see more

Cafe Junior is a fantastic cafe with huge play area filled with quality wooden toys and dressing up stuff etc. Another good place to spend a few hours on a rainy day. See www.cafejunior.com

I'm sorry I can't reccommend places to stay, since I live in Cardiff and therefoer haven't stayed in its hotels. I know there are good self-catering apartment on the Cathedral Road area which is an easy walk into the city centre and to the huge park at Llandaff Fields.

Enjoy your stay!
