DD is 6 and suddenly HUGELY into things science-factual and science-fictional, especially stuff to do with stars & planets. She has a poster of Doctor Who on her wall and a chart of the Solar System (pre-dropping of Pluto)! She used to love looking up at Mars when it was visible, and her favourite book at the moment is one about the Solar System.

I'm entertaining her for a day on Monday before she goes back to school and I really want to surprise her by taking her somewhere that's fun and reflects her new interest. Any ideas for places within an hour or two of Yorkshire where I could take her out for the day? Here would have been great but it's not open on Mondays...

Whereabouts are you? We're going to Spaceport tomorrow so if you're interested I can let you know what it's like. DS1 won tix through a painting competition and he's well-chuffed!

Oh sorry, durr, you did say where you were. Spaceport is on Wirral at Seacombe, probably about 1.5 hrs from Leeds, if that's any good. Road links are good, though.

The Star Centre at Keighley is great. My 2 DS loved it.

Thanks for suggestions, people. Looks from starcentre website as if it is just/mainly for school groups?
