Years ago we stayed in a cottage on TResco which was in a row of possibly 6? which had a shared outdoor pool. Loved it - it was my last family holiday - I was 16 and it was gorgeous. No idea of the company, but there really can't be that many on Tresco??

moondog · 29/08/2006 19:17

Bea,check the archives.
Lots of info.
Dinny is a Scillonian (?) too.
I am planning a trip there for ny 40th next year.

dinny · 29/08/2006 19:20

which island, Bea?

yes, that is right, Moondog (Scillonian, that is!)
just back from home, was fab, very crap being back!

moondog · 29/08/2006 19:21

lol that she turned up so fast!

ocd · 29/08/2006 19:22

i went ot tresco

dinny · 29/08/2006 19:27

Bobsmum, the whole of Tresco is run by a lessor, under the name of Tresco Estates. They also now run Hell Bay Hotel on Bryher. So self-catering (o hotels) on Tresco can be found here

here is the tourist info site for the islands - all accommodation listed and they will send you availability lists of accomm on request. here

dinny · 29/08/2006 19:28

you must go, Bea, it's the best place in the world. going to try and do a pic of me and dd on the beach there last week... will out your name in thread title, look out!

mrsnoah · 29/08/2006 22:55

Bea, Tresco is THE most fantastic place. Went there on my honeymoon, going back next year.
Watching this thread with interest.

mrsnoah · 29/08/2006 22:57

Lucky you Dinny, did you grow up there?
Love the little yellow shells on the beach.
DH went every year as a child. Enid Blyton style holidays.

dinny · 29/08/2006 22:57

have done you a thread, Bea...

Where are you staying, MrsNoah? Be cryptic if you like, lol...

Marina · 29/08/2006 22:58

Don't forget to pack some Michael Morpurgo for the six year old bea. Ds read The Wreck of the Zanzibar and Why the Wales Came this summer and is now desperate to visit Bryher and Sansom...

dinny · 29/08/2006 23:00

my sister was in Why The Wales came, Marina (wih lovely Dexter - they all got food poisoning during filming, iirc)!

Marina · 29/08/2006 23:09

Seeing the film is next on our list dinny. Would that be Dexter Fletcher, by any chance? [drool]

dinny · 29/08/2006 23:11

yeah, we all were soooo into him, he came to our school assembly when they wre filming, lol

mrsnoah · 29/08/2006 23:14

Havent booked anywhere yet. in fact was discussing it with DH tonight. Must get on with it.
On honeymoon we stayed at Inn. The Girls rowing team were in the bar and were quite pissed (looked like they were having a hoot)! Were you one of them I wonder???

Only just read Why the whales came a couple of months ago myself.. wonderful book.

Sorry Bea, not helping much.

Marina · 29/08/2006 23:15

I even sat through bloody awful Caravaggio for him you know.

dinny · 29/08/2006 23:28

MrsNoah, which gig team - Czar, Men-a-vaur...?

Nah, I'm from St Mary's, would always be Bonnet!

Sounds like there'll be a MN contingent on Scilly next summer - must do a meet in the Mermaid...

MeAndMyBoy · 29/08/2006 23:34

Serica - all the way.

We stayed in Holy Vale on St Marys - not sure if they still rent though. Several other places as well but was a few years ago now.

Just found a web site - scillyonline.com that might be useful?

H x

mrsnoah · 29/08/2006 23:34

Dont know.
I do remember I nearly collapsed cycling up the only hill in St Mary's heavily pg on rented bicycle.
Dh chose a nifty looking mountain bike with 42 gears and I chose sweet Vicar's wife style bicycle with basket on front... it was crap!

MeAndMyBoy · 29/08/2006 23:36

lol I used to end up always trying to cycle back up that hill just as school was kicking out and getting caught up with all the kids.

dinny · 29/08/2006 23:49

loads of self-catering, booked up ages in dvance, most of it (my M & D have accomm but alway rebooked for most of the season each year)/
