What's the easiest and cheapest way to cross? I looked at the ferry from Newcastle to holland and about fell off my perch it was so expensive!

We go from hull to zeebrugge, but it's not cheap -£500 for four of us in a car, IIRC.

It's a long drive but you could take the ferry or tunnel Dover to Calais. Or overnight ferry Portsmouth to St Malo, expensive but you get a nights sleep after the long drive south from Scotland. Quick drive on the other side...
