What about rooms in a Travelodge? Covent Garden etc. You can sometimes pick them up from £26 depending on when you go.

other than the cheaper option of a travelodge you could have a look at alaistairsawday.co.uk - he recommends hotels throughout Europe - all various prices - there is a section for London and where applicable a direct link to the hotel website HTH

dh and i have stayed at the Kyriad Bayswater which is all right - quite a nice ambience but I thought the rooms were tiny, the bar smoky and the breakfast underwhelming.

I have a soft spot for the Days Inn at Waterloo having had an extremely dirty stopover there with an ex-boyfriend many moons ago - rooms big, duvets not blankets etc. Not much in the way of a restaurant as I remember, and pricier than travel inn at County Hall which might also be worth a try. But good location.

travel lodge is more expensive than the secret deal you can do with last minute and get a 4*
