That's it, we are going to Devon in September, and would love some tips on how to stop my 2 squabbling all the way there. We were at Edinburgh at the weekend and DH almost crashed the car twice because they were shouting and yelling and carrying on so much. He is threatning to cancel the holiday ! Help.
They are 8 and 6

I have ds 8 and dd 5 they are same but we play silly games like, guess the colour of the next lorry !!! and spot mini cars each mini gets one point but if it is a yellow mini you get 10 points, sounds really stupid i know but it works

good luck

We have tried the guess the colour of the lorry, but then whichever one guesses first, say he picks red, then the other picks red as well, then they start again!
We have tried looking for things, I.e "first to see a cow" then whoever sees a cow picks the next thing to look for,, but again they argue over what to look for!

Leapster? (would mean one each tho' )
CD's of children's songs in the car(will drive you insane but the kid's may like it!)

I did malory....took me while to catch up though, what with all the "other" stuff going on on here ATM.

Not sure if you were asking me but yes I am "with child"

we weren't planning on going for more than 3....but the descision was taken out of our hands!

I'm 18weeks now, due in jan.

You're not nearly as shocked as I was I can tell you...18 weeks in and I'm still not over the shock of seeing that little line appear.
I think it's called "denial" actually.....

Sorry to hi-jack satire, you have my sympathy though, we're just back from our hoidays with 3 squabbling boys in the back of the car. It was bloody awful. I hated it.
Sedation is the only way....or keep them up really really REALLY late the night before so they're knackered the for the journey. Take a nice comfy bed pillow for each of them in the car and hopefully within minutes they'll be asleep.

oh, and bribes

Bribes. Shouting. Threatening to turn car round and go home. Distraction works with LOs but IME once they reach 7yrs it doesn't quite so well or for long.

I used to seperate 7 and 9yr old with DS#2's babyseat but discovered recently that he's the worst of the lot....her really winds everyone up. So now DS#1 or DD take it in turns to sit in front and I or DH sit in the middle in the back. Oh joy...

Beg, borrow or steal a car DVD. My 2 bicker constantly in the car - but with the DVD it's great. dh and I can actually have a conversation. (mind you,we bought 2 so they wouldn't argue about what to watch..!)
