If anyone's bored or has time, find me a gorgeous house s/c, with 4./5 beds over Oct half term

I hate chintz, I like boutique hotels, anyone coming will have children, so it needs to be safe, with no pools or heights. I don't mind if it's expensive ish but it needs to be within 3 hours of London more or less in any direction. If anyone can be arsed, suggestions appreciated. It's for a family party, loads of places are booked but TIA for any suggestions.

I'll be sunning myself in Florida then - do you want to stay at mine? - I think it's less than 3 hrs from you

iota · 28/07/2006 20:29

On second thoughts, I'm retracting the offer - you wouldn't like the decor

Not sure about dates of October half-term, went for ones with any time in Oct free.

This one has a pool, but it's indoors so presumably fenced off?

This has a bit of chintz, but is definately free, and looks ok.

Isle of Wight? Bit chintz.

Ugly, but available .

Beautiful, but only available one week in Oct?

Hmm, no interior pictures, but a fireplace

Any luck?

VRBO is often really quite useful, if a bit random.

zippitippitoes · 30/07/2006 08:58

I'm looking for Christmas..fantasising about escaping my yuck house really unless I get a job..but I've noticed that I have a make or break on sofas

There are quite a few still available on c4u, www, but they are the more expensive ones (natch!)

Somerset
Norfolk (unfenced lake though)
Suffolk
another in Norfolk
and another!!!

(We have just had a week in Norfolk, it's surprisingly fab for a holiday - not crowded, some beautiful beaches, lovely countryside and lots to do)

You can use the availability page to put in your dates, party size, price range and required areas. You'll have to do it either region by region or do the whole of the UK (115 possibilities atm for the week of Sat 21/10) and ignore the ones that are too far - but that way you might come across something perfect but a bit further away than you might have otherwise considered. Don't bother with any preferences because it only confuses the search and it will still come up with places that don't have them, just not in the first few.

(This is the company I work for btw )
