Hi - we are hoping to come down to London for a few days late september/early october. Does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay?

DD will be 20months - and isn't the best sleeper (so if possible we'd prefer to have a separate room for her!)

thank you

what part of town did you have in mind? where will you be going when you're here?

grannyboots · 28/07/2006 12:20

was thinking fairly central - want to do all the touristy type things - the eye, tower of london, museums etc

and what's your budget?

GreenyFanjo · 28/07/2006 12:27

I'd look on www.vrbo.com and similar, and try to get a flat. They can be quite competitively priced, particularly if you're willing to consider Zone 2, etc.

grannyboots · 28/07/2006 12:29

i would say no more than £500 for 4 to 5 nights (if that's possible). looked at few self-catering appartments (did a google) but they were all in excess of £1000...

Could you tolerate a one-bedroom? Put your DD in the bedroom, you guys get a sofa bed in the living room?

the premier inn by the globe theatre is about 70 pounds a room with great location on south bank.

a bit left field but have a look at this (also trip advisor review of same here .

not central but sounds fab

GreenyFanjo · 28/07/2006 12:34

Here is a 2-bed for £700/week. Slightly west, but a good neighbourhood. Another at the same price, different neighbourhood. This one is cheaper, but not so central. Also, availability isn't great, but maybe you can fit in with their dates.

sorry, trip advisor link may confuse, as it seems there's a company that has several places around london. may be worth a call to them though as the reviews of all their places sound excellent.

thanks - some of these look quite promising...

i've emailed the links to DP for him to have a look.

Not sure of price but have you investigated Citadines ?

There are three - Trafaglar Sq, Barbican (City) and Covent Garden.

GreenyFanjo · 28/07/2006 12:47

There are loads of appropriate places on www.vrbo.com, have a glance through and see what you find. I just randomly sent you the first few I found.

(I've had v good experiences with vrbo in the past - they're not a central organisation, just a listing website, but the property owners I've dealt with have all been fine.)

magicgenie - I knew that there was something like this - but couldn't remember what they were called!
