thats it basically. iveleft it far too late for the trqavelodge rooms. unless i pay 65 pounds a room.
i thought maybe we could just conitnue on through the night, but dad says he cant sleep in the car. so now need to find a place to stay.
does anyone know of any place any where in the north of england, or south of scotland where we could spend a comofrtablish few horizontal hours that dont cost the earth?

Depends what your budget is. Premiertravelinn have a few places near the M6 around Manchester. Their rooms go for £50-56 and breakfasts are reasonable. We stayed at Knutsford Mere (The Kilton Arms) recently and it did the job for overnight. We live in Manchester and it takes about the same time for us to travel to London or Glasgow

My parents used to stay in Moffat which is not too far north of the border when they were going to Mull. There are quite a few hotels and B&BS there. It would be a long drive on Friday evening but you'd then have the interesting bit to do at your leisure on Saturday.

I live in Moffat and it's lovely, take the kids to Moffatasia water park or go to Hammerlands for lunch, there is a kids playground there and some farm animals to look at, some mega-cute piglets frolicking around at the mo.

lilli, we had a lovely time at the water park.kids went on the boats, parents played golf. had a fantastic picnic and icecream in the rain. didnt get to go in the water bit as it was raining!
but absolutley lovely. and the air just felt soo clean.
will definitly be stipping there again. and would recommend to everyonedriving on the motorway rather than stopping at nasty nasty services.
