Hi, sorry forgot to post about our stay at Sandford Bay.
We had a brilliant time there - its a big but very nice holiday park.
Caravan we had was very good - bigger than what we've ever had before. We particularly liked the fact that you could park your car next to your caravan.
The swimming pools were lovely - we liked the sandy bit on the outside one. Like going to the beach.
We didn't see any shows as we went out most evenings so can't say what the entertainment is like.
The only bad point about it is the lack of childrens play area. There is only one pirate ship with slide for them to play on and it wasn't really suitable for kids younger than ours. For a holiday park of that size it was a disappointment.
Hope you have a great time when you go next month.

Hi,

sorry just butting in. Did u go with with WestStar holiday parks in Dorset as we r going there in 3 weeks? where did u go at night?

justmummy · 27/07/2006 19:57

Yes it was West Star holidays. We just went to the beach in the evenings - kids prefer it then to when it's hot during the day.

hi justmummy i only just read this, sorry.
we actually got back from our holiday in sandford yesterday.
my findings were: our caravan was far too small for a family of 4. i was shocked to discover that dh & i were expected to sleep on a makeshift bed in the living room. this involved piecing together 4 different cushions to make a mattress which inevitibly separated causing holes in the bed at the slightest movement we had to have a fair few to drink before even trying to sleep on it. that along with the fact that there was constant background noise from the fridge didnt make for very sweet dreams. also storage was almost non existent & totally unacceptable for a family staying for a week there was one drawer & one small wardrobe for all our stuff & nowhere to store our cases & the makeshift mattress when we werent using it.
we used the indoor pool a few times, but it wasnt very warm (maybe im just a wimp) the outdoor pools looked great but were too crowded when we were there. didnt get chance to try the crazy golf or go on one of the little cars that people were riding around on. we really only used the park as a base to stay in, although there was a reasonable amount to do there, not enough if you didnt explore the area as well & just remained in the park. kids clubs were run during the day when we were out so didnt use them. it was only for an hour or so in the morning anyway. we did take the girls out to the limelight club (entertainment complex) after dinner for a dance, but it was very repetitive (not that they minded) agree with you about the lack of childrens play area, id expected something bigger than that. the nature trail was quite fun & the girls each won a blow up sid the seagull
in all though i was quite pleased with the park & would probably go back/recommend it, id just splash out on a more expensive caravan next time.
