is there a swimming pool in/near Whitby?

we are going on holiday there in a couple of weeks with 20mo ds. I'd like to take him swimming but I think the sea's likely to be too cold for him to do more than paddle. Are there any pools I could take him to? (not necessarily with a toddler pool - he is happy enough in the big pool).

TIA

yes

In Scarborough there is a fab outdoor water park, but that's a bit further along the coast.

Have a lovely time - I love Whitby.

The sea at Bridlington was really warm three weeks ago so should be even better now - you may find it's fine at Whitby even for a toddler.

there were plenty of toddlers in the sea the other week, but then they're hard as nails round here - there were kids swimming when we went at Easter!

My friend was at Scarborough a few weeks ago and the open-air pool with flumes etc is closed for refurbishment. She was very as I had happy memories from holidays there and I had told her how wonderful it was. Ah well

ooh thanks for that - that's v close to where we're staying too.

we'll try and brave the sea too, but possibly ds is too southern in his ways for that .

Oooh you must go to Robin Hoods Bay.

Fantastic for rock pools.

ooooh, how exciting!!

I've actually been to Whitby etc a few times, but all before ds was born, and we were more concerned about finding good pubs and chip shops than swimming pools.

It will be lovely to go and do all the rock pool-type stuff with ds
