Where are the best seaside places to live in the UK, preferably somewhere not too loud (like Blackpool)? Somewhere child friendly, not to expensive etc...

Ooooh I was going to say Sandbanks in Poole - but then got to the 'not too expensive' bit ! There's loads of lovely places ! Kent's great for zooming to France and London as well as pretty beaches all along the coastline, hythe and sandgate are lovely ! Dorset is less accessible to London due to the lack of motorways ! rye in Sussex is quaint ! Why not rent a camper van and explore a bit ?!?!

you have to go and visit seaside places to live both in the depths of winter and the height of summer. in the depths of winter to see how many houses are second homes and how dead the place is. we often stay in Looe and Polperro is like a ghost village in the winter with many of the restaurants and shops shut until the season. you need to see it in the summer to see if you can cope with it heaving with people, nowhere to park, traffic queues etc. I would say take a lot of time before taking the leap. lots of people do because it sounds like a great idea and then regret it. also remember you pay a massive premium for being in walking distance of a beach so you either settle for a smaller house or live a mile or two away.

Sheringham in Norfolk is nice. My sister has a holiday flat. A small seaside resort without being tacky. I don't know what houses prices are like though.

Many different places and all depends on criteria, Margate is up and coming and good links
