Hello - planning a trip to Orkney next year, probably May, with DS (will be aged 5), DP and PILs. Would love to get some info from others who have been/live there.
I know it's quite early to start planning but I like to be prepared!
Any tips on where to stay, what to do, things not to miss, etc will be gratefully received. I am very much looking forward to seeing some sites of archaeological and anthropological interest - obviously there's Skara Brae but is there anywhere else we should go for this?
Me and DS both really want to see whales... I know we can't guarantee this but any tips on best places to visit for this would be great - would make our holiday if we managed to get a glimpse!
DP will just do whatever I plan is pretty easygoing but will appreciate visiting a nice local pub with a good selection of ales I reckon.
We will probably rent a cottage but don't know where to start looking...
