Short Break in the New Forest

Looking to get away for a few days in June. We're London-based and don't want to drive more than 2 hours.

I thought the New Forest might be a nice idea.

Haven't been there myself since I was a young child. Wondering whereabouts within the New Forest is a good place to stay. Does anyone have anywhere they'd recommend? With a little one we always rather go self catering than a hotel as it means we can put DS to sleep and not have to tip toe around and can give him breakfast the minute he wakes up ravenous!

What activities would you recommend doing? We're outdoorsy sort of people....open to all sorts of suggestions though.

DS will be just over 18 months.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Went to Sandy Balls with similar aged child - was a good base to do day trips from. Long down farm, Bournemouth beach, Salisbury etc.

I've been to Sway a few times, stayed in a cottage. It's got a bit expensive for us now but it really is lovely.
